The Queen has done a lovely job being Queen. That job is to be a celebrity, to carry on the royal line and to be a figurehead. In that she has performed exceptionally well. Queen Elizabeth II is one of the most famous and popular monarchs ever and her generosity and kindness has achieved the love of people across the world. For the royal business, William and Kate would be the best but Charles may Will get the throne being the eldest son. This is all very nice for Britain but NZ is different a matter.
Officially, some woman 12000 miles away is our head of state. She has absolutely no role in our country's management but we must spend millions to maintain royal control over NZ. The Governor-General lives in a splendid mansion but is the money for it really worth spending? I believe that we should become democratic republic and our head of state should be in Wellington and not in Buckingham Palace. We can still have strong relations with Britain but should not have to waste money on some woman in London. Do you agree?
Why should the Queen be head of the NZ. WE should be head of our own country!
ReplyDeletePRECISELY!!!!
ReplyDeletewe need the queen, we are like worker drones in a beehive. Not to mention that John Key is useless.
ReplyDeleteThat point is untrue. We are a fully independent country and the Republic will mean stronger ties to Australia, China and the all powerful USA. I think some countries in the Commonwealth don't have the Queen as head of state. So, Assassins & quot;R" Us wellington outlet, I think you are wrong.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Luke!
ReplyDeleteAssassins does have a point, whoever he is. The countries of the commonwealth need a common figurehead to look up to if we are to stay united. The more countries arise and become more independent, the more chaotic the world becomes. If the number of 100% independent countries keeps growing, soon we will be in a world with thousands of small countries all fighting! I am for the merge of the world into one country with provinces, similar to Panem from the Hunger Games but without the dead teenagers.
ReplyDeleteSometime in the future, we could have one world nation. However, the Commonwealth is not that. We should be able to go our own way, even if its only NZ. We can still prosper. But yes, the royalists do have an argument.
ReplyDeleteWe can still prosper, sure. But if you have too many leaders of different countries all squabbling for power then it becomes chaotic. The commownwealth probably could never be that one massive country but it is all progress.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Thrapmation! We have the right to independence!
