I think that the queen's role has been diminished over the years and that the monarchy system should soon be demolished. Most of her duties now are just to appear at public events as a figurehead. The royal family makes a lot of money through tourists who want to visit Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London. Upholding tradition is all very well, but when it comes to the cost of all the castles and palaces, is it really worth having a royal family? Nowadays, the government does most of the work, so is she really needed? In order to make a good decision about whether to abolish the monarchy, one would need all the statistics about how much the royal family earns and how many dollars are being put into them. But with the information I know about, I can judge that it would be beneficial to the UK to abolish monarchy once the queen dies. Also, the royal family are mostly just ordinary people, they have not earned their place in power. Perhaps Prince Charles does not want to be king, has anybody ever considered that possibility?
I think that New Zealand has been independent long enough and while maintaining ties with Britain is good, I think we should no longer be a commonwealth.

ReplyDeleteWhy Noah? Just why? Are you trying to impersonate an English person? Because after having lived there for four years, I can tell you that they don't all speak like that!
