The Queen being in throne for such a length of time is really special. During those 60 years she will have opened many schools and libaries but people are wondering what does the Queen really do.
The origanal duties for the Queen were to make the countries decisions. However ever since 1801 when the British parliment was created the Queen or King's job as been to verify laws that pass wearas before she wuold be creating the laws. Another change from say the medeival times is that there has been a lot more debate about the laws that pass. In the middle ages what the monarch says goes.
The Queen is also a very important thing in New Zealand. With out the commen wealth New Zealand would be a bit isolated. If America were to cut themself off from the outside world it would be simple, they are such a big country that they could be basically self supporting and wouldn't need anything that nwe (the rest of the world could offer). If New Zealand were to do the same thing we would soon die as we would have no cars or any other products being improted into the country but unlike Amerrica becaue of our size we could not build these things. It is for this reason that I think that we should not cut ourselves out of the Commenwealth.
I think that in a few years if the Queen is still alive then Britain and the Queen would probably think of pasing the thrown to Prince William.
All in all I think that we have a really good Queden and that it is great being part of the Commenwealth.
I agree, without the Commonwealth to support us NZ wouldn't last. The Queen is very important to New Zealand, but many people don't realise it.
