I thought the book and the movie were both really good but I do think that the movie could have been made a lot better if they included quite a lot more scenes. I think that the movie added a lot more experience and was very good. The biggest constraints are:
1. Not making it to long and expensive
2.Not going over the top in special effects
3. Not using to many expensive things e.g, planes
I think the character that completely nailed it was the Colonel and Horrible Handly I thought the scenes they added were really good. The most crucial thing they missed out was big joe up the church tower. The book 10/10.The movie 9/10. so overall good. For a stop motion I would do the gas attack.
