The Power of Picture Books - William
I brought in the picture book "The Sneetches", a wonderful book by Dr. Seuss that highlights the importance of living in an equal society. When I read it countless times in my youth I did not pick up any of these messages though but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and my joy that this truly great picture book gave me never diminished. For me it triggers memories from my early childhood, and my nanny Barbara reading it to me. The absolutely sensational drawings from the one and only Theodor Seuss Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) is second to none and brings the book to life in a way we can only dream of doing. Every aspect of The Sneetches is sheer genius from the colourful language to the startingly good illustrations to the stark reminders about the dangers of living in a divided society. I would say that I would struggle to write a picture book, as I lack the ability to craft something like that.
