I brought in Mr Tanglewood and the Punga People. I go back very long for this book, and I love the rhymes in it. It makes a successful picture book because it teaches that anyone can be your friend. A certain picture book can become a classic if the artwork has a unique style and if it has been read for generations. Also, its plot has to be original and has to have a moral. The artwork is a very important for the reader, for when a young child 'reads' a book, they only really look at the pictures, while listening to whoever is reading it out. The artwork also tells a thousand words. It must be really
hard to write a successful picture book, as if you want to hook the young readers, you must think like the reader.
