Matthew's Earworms
Earworms can really bug me sometimes, and it's so fustrating when you're trying to achieve a relatively simple task like hanging the washing out and all of a sudden this tune rings through, sometimes from over a couple of years ago and there it sounds, crystal clear. It must be a really complicated branch of science to study, all about subconscious thinking and memories. I'm really perplexed how a song is hidden deep within an area of the brain without you noticing and suddenly the song blurts out. It takes some thought to get rid of them because the moment you attempt to push it out you are subconsciously thinking about the song and therefore it comes back. It's like a never-ending circuit-you think about the song, you try to get rid of it, you think about getting rid of it and how you are going to, and then as you are thinking about getting rid of it it stays there. I find that One republic's Apologize and Good life are so hard to get away. It's probably something to do with how a songs simple rhythm follows or how repetitive the tune is.

It is really annoying especially if the earworms are bad songs like mine usually are.
