Lord of the Flies- Tim H

I think that the book is so compelling because of the setting, a crashed plane with ordinary people (instead of rambo or superman) and they have to survive on a remote island with almost no hope of rescue. That setting is very popular (Cast Away, The Forest, Stranded etc) and to make matters worse for the survivors, they are only children.
