The Lord of the Flies is a very thought provoking book, I really enjoyed reading it, and I am interested in seeing what the movie will be like.
I doubt the the movie(s) will be as good as the book, as everyone has a different interpretation of the island.
I think that they will probably skip some of the meetings, as watching 12 year olds talk isnt as exciting as car chases or doing the limbo and dodging bullets at the same time. I think a new version could be good, as long as its not directed by Michael Bay, and the movie still leaves the most part of the island to the imagination.

Lots of Tigers Ferociously... Book to Movie - Max
I expect terrible visual effects and terrible recording quality. I think the storyline will jump around a lot and just show the pivotal moments. I am most looking forwards to seeing Piggy. I would rather watch the 1990 one. I would like to play Simon.

Book To Movie - Luke S
Honestly, I think the Lord of the flies shouldn't be made into a movie, it should stay a special, imaginative book, which you have to spend a good few hours reading, then have your own mental image of the book and it's characters. Not sit in front of a screen for 86 minutes approximately, and have it spoon-fed to you.
Lord of the Flies... book to movie-GusM
Lord of the Flies, man what a great story. Seeing that it was written in 1954, I'd say that it was written in a bit of a past tense, that is, set in a time before the book was made. But I wonder if this will be mentioned in the movie version. As always in a book to movie scenario, a lot of things are cut from the book that would otherwise be in the movie.
Now things turn to custard when there is a second version of a movie made at a later date. The first Lord of the Flies movie came out in 1963, when swearing was a lot more relaxed in movies then it is nowdays. But a second version came out 27 years later, and a lot of things had changed in that time. For a start, movies in 1990 were in colour, not in unfassionable black and white. And swearing was a bit less relaxed. So I guess that watching the 60's version would mean people would hear a lot more colourful language, which is odd considering it's a black and white movie!

Book To Movie LOTF- Judd
I think the plot will be very close to the story line because the book has too many significant points for the movie to change the storyline it would be horribly in acurate. I think that it is time for a new version because as the 1963 version is in black and white the people of today cannot relate to that as well as if it was in colour. The characters that I am most looking faward to seeing Ralph and Piggy the most because I haven't been able to visualize either of them that well. I don't know what to expect in the movie whether it will be easy to tell that they have been on the island for a long time or whether littluns will actually be that little.
Book to movie... LOTF - Jim
I personally think that it would be hard to make the book into a movie. There are a lot of parts in the book where they just stand around arguing and that will be hard to make exciting. It also involves a lot of child actors which can sometime be less than good. I think they might cut some of those bits out. I am looking forward to seeing Jack being played as I think he is quite a complicated character and I would like to see him come to life. If I could play a character I would play Jack because it would be a challenge but it would be fun. I think that when the movie came out it would have been talked about because the book was well known enough for them to make the film. Overall I can't wait to see how it turns out.
LOTF Book To Movie (HUGO)
I do not know what the movie will be like as it is a very old movie. I reckon that it will be very good because LOTF is such a good book that it would be hard to fail. Lord Of The Rings Flies was such a mind blower of a book that it actually might be hard to movie-ise it if that's a word. Really I don't know and cant wait for the movie. The lighting, stage and set might be a little dodgy but I still think that it will be a good movie.

Book to Movie - Andrew
I'm really excited about watching the movie after reading the book to see what take the film maker has used. To me, it would be good for the movie if it's very similar or the exact same to the book, because William Golding did a superb job of telling the story. I'm looking forward to seeing Samneric because I want to know how much they/him are used in the movie. Personally, i want to watch both the movies to compare them, but it's not likely to happen (i may go myself and watch the other one at home). I've always liked Simon, so if i could, i would play him.
Lord of the Flies Book to Movie - Atharva
The movie might not be that good considering that it was made a long time ago. I am not that excited to watch the movie because, survival and savagery are my leatleast favourite genres for books or movies. I have also watched some YouTube clips at home about how they show Simon and Piggy dying. It is just brutal.

lord of the flies was a great book, I really enjoyed reading and listening to it. I wood like to see the movie made again for the third time. I am looking forward to watching the 1990 movie to see what parts the director kept and what he did not put in the movie. If I had to be a character I would be jack because I like hunting and I would want to be the leader because I like leading.
Book to Movie - Josh
When we watch the movie my expectations aren't that high. I feel like if it was made 50 years ago the standards will not be to where they are today. Even though the 1963 adaptation has a better review than the 1990 adaptation. I think that the movie may not follow the storyline as it was created in 1963 and they may not have had the resources or technology to recreate some of the moments in the novel. I am most looking forward to seeing Jack in the film because he is in my opinion the most interesting character in the novel. I mean even if the 1963 adaptation got a better review than the 1990 I would still prefer to watch the 1990 one because it is newer and in colour and possibly a bit easier to see. Of course I think it's time for a new movie of the Lord of the Flies. I think with the modern technology it would make it so much better and I think it would be a really interesting movie that I would watch on the premiere! If I had the chance I would play Jack. He is such a good acting role, the way he turns from innocent to savage at the snap of a finger would be so interesting to portray in a film.
LOTF book to movie- Will
I am really excited for the movie because if it is anything like the book I should enjoy it. After reading the book I am really looking forward to seeing if the mental images I had of the island and the boys is sort of the same as what Peter Brooks has done with the film. I am most looking forward to seeing Ralph compared to Jack because at the start of the book they said that Ralph looked like the better chief as he was more logical, composed and he was stronger / bigger looking. I am also intrested to see the kind of special effects or props they use for the pig killing scene and the two deaths because I have seen a lot of old movie but I am so used to the amazing CGI, props and special effects that the twenty first century has too offer. Over all I feel the book was great and I am super excited about watching the movie.
Book 2 Movie_LOTF - Carpy003
LOTF is a great book and I really want to see it as a movie. I would be interested to see the difference between the movie quality and lighting. I thought the book was great. I think the movie would be very gory the way Piggy and Simon were murdered. I'm exited about the new book as well.
Book to Movie...LOTF-Anish
I am thinking that the book will be way better than the movie, because they're always are, but there might some better parts like the conch could be a siren or something like that. What I really wonder is what the castle rock would look like and how Simon and Piggy dies. So I can't wait to watch the movie and see the differences from the book and the movie
LOTF Book to Movie-William
The Lord of the Flies is an amazing book so it only fits that there is an amazing movie to go with it. I am looking forward to watching the movie published back in 1963. I think the way that Peter Brooks adapts the story to a movie line will be interesting to see. Personally I would like to act Piggy as he is my favourite character albeit an interesting one. All in all I loved the book and I am sure the movie will live up to expectations.
Lord of the Flies, book to movie_Archie C
When we watch the movie The Lord of the Flies I think that it won't be great quality for the reason that it was made about 50 years ago. If I could act one charcter in the movie it would probably be Jack because it would mean you would get lots of action scenes and not as many sitting and talking scenes like Ralph and Piggy have.
Man to Beast - LOTF - Ben S
First off, that was one of the best books I had ever read. William Golding transformed our perspective of the characters from boys, to men, to beasts, to boys. Think about it. I am looking foward to the movie, despite being made half a century ago. So long as it sticks to the plot, I expect it to be a good movie. Yes, I believe that we need an updated LOTF movie. I think with the way the special effects have evolved, I think it would be very interesting to see how a director would manage and see such a movie. I think an updated movie would also be very good, because I would like to see how others see all the characters played, and it helps to have a picture along with the story.
Book to movie-Sam
I think the movie will follow the story line very well because there many things they wouldn't be able to do in it. I am most interested in seeing Piggy in this movie as well as Samneric because I want to see how much of a part they play towards the end. I don't think the lighting etc. will be that good. I would rather watch the 1990 version. I think it would be successful in the current world. The character I would want to play would be Jack.
Book to Movie...LOTF - Mr T
Good afternoon boys. Lord of the Flies complete! What a story. Next week at some stage we will watch Peter Brook's 1963 film adaptation. This movie is over 50 years old. What do you expect? How close do you think it will be to the original storyline? What changes do you expect? Which character are you most looking forward to seeing and why? How do you think the lighting, setting, sound, actors, length of movie will play out? Would you rather watch the 1963 or 1990 version? Do you think it is time for a new version? Do you think it could it be successful in a film-saturated world? Which character would you like to play (if you had the chance)?

Lord of the Flies- Tim H
I think that the book is so compelling because of the setting, a crashed plane with ordinary people (instead of rambo or superman) and they have to survive on a remote island with almost no hope of rescue. That setting is very popular (Cast Away, The Forest, Stranded etc) and to make matters worse for the survivors, they are only children.

Lord of the tryhards - Nud Lootins
Hey, I'm back.
With more horrible jokes up my sleeve.
Lord of the flies is a good book, I think.
The tension is very tensionifying, because with The Lord of the Tryhards ruining everything for Simoné, the French-Italian lion tamer.
The character that frustrates me the most is Jack, because he is the real tryhard.
If I were on the island, I would choose me, because I am the best, and I always win. Right?
Joke:
the smelly pig head in lord of the flies
is a real "stinker"
Lord of the Flies - Toby M
The savagery of Jack is shocking and I think that they just all need to calm down, call an assembly and just listen to Piggy. Why can't Jack juat calm down and stop being such a tyrant. I think that Simon has some serious issues and that he is the only one who understands the beast. The character that anmoys me the most is Jack because he is eliminating all of the food sources and he is a tyrant.
I think that the y need to find the red bananas and then they won't die.
The end!!!!!!!
Lord of the Flies - Ąñdrëw
As the time goes on in Lord of the Flies, I can definitely feel the tension building. An example of this is when Jack leaves Ralph's group to go off on his own. One character that annoys me is Simon, because he's so secretive, and I feel that he's hiding something. I have the most sympathy for piggy, because he's giving the other boys good ideas but the boys don't recognise him for it, also, I don't think the boys would've been able to survive without the ideas.
Here is my one-sentence sum up... An exiting, tense novel - a great read.
Lord of the Flies-GusM
The book Lord of the Flies is quite something. In fact, you could call it an over-sized Animal Farm, because of the way it is set out. Piggy is like Benjamin (the donkey), Jack is like Napoleon (1st antagonist pig) and Ralph is like Snowball (prontagonist pig). The way Golding really reaches into world war two children is quite remarkable.
Lord of the Flies - William
In 7/8T we are currently in the process of reading Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. It is a superbly written book and you can feel the tension rising between characters, especially Jack and Ralph. William Golding uses whole chapters to set a scene and then ruin the vividly drawn scene by introducing a character, such as the beast. As a writer to do this is, in my opinion, a remarkable thing to do, and is a fantastic writing tool.
Jack, as a character annoys me by his constant rebelism of the process, and the agreed way to do things. He is constantly undermining Ralph (the elected chief) and causing more problems by his thirst for hunting than he is solving.
Even though Ralph is chief, if I was on the island, I would vote for Piggy, as he is a clear thinker, is smart and the only one on the island who knows any sense. Ralph respects Piggy and would be able to action Piggy's ideas.
This book is literary genius and a joy to read.

Lord of the Flies-Tom A
Hi
So far I think that LOTF is a great book. My favourite character is Ralph but he is also the most frustrating. I have the most sympathy with Piggy and Jack. Piggy because he has to put up with all the rubbish that is going on ad Jack because he is thought of as the villain of the story and all he wants to do is hunt and have a good time. I think The Lord of the Flies is such a popular book because it shows us what happens when human society breaks down. In a was you could see the ongoing rivalry between Ralph and Jack as the battle between the part of our brain that stands for civilisation and rules and the wild side of us. I think that if I had to sum up the book so far I would say "When a group of schoolboys are stranded on a deserted island, a sunny paradise quickly turns into something much more sinister.

Lord of the flies - Noah🐛
my favourite character is probably Ralph because he is the main person who has the meetings and he is the probably the most responsible person on the island. The character that annoys me most is jack because he always just contradicts Ralph. The character I have the most sympathy for is piggy because lots of the boys just find him annoying. I think the book sells so well because it surprises you and keeps you interested.
Lord of the Flies-Judd
I am really enjoying reading LOTF as it is a very exciting book and very unpredictable. Jack is the character that annoys me the most because he is always trying to be the best and the leader. My vote would probably be for Piggy because he is the most logical one and has the best ideas to survive. I probably have the most sympathy for the littluns because they are away from home and miss their parents the most. I think that this book is so high up in the literature world because it is so compelling and exciting. I think that this book is so compelling because there is so much happening in every chapter and the characters are so unusual and unpredictable. If I had to put one sentence on the back cover (blurb) it would be; There is a war going on, a group of boys have been evacuated but the plane was shot down the boys are stranded on a desert island and have to survive alone...
Lord of the Flies - Ben S
To be honest, I want to be perfectly clear. These guys are idiots, for twelve years old. It must be a school for the Not-So-Gifted. And the leaders aren't very good either (although it's a lot like politics today. A bunch of people that think they are gods but end up making stupid decisions). To be honest, the most inteelingent of the bunch is Simon. Only he is trying to see the beast for himself, and he plays a huge role in the book. What a shame he is (Spoiler!). He most definately has my sympathy. And if the boy with the birthmark hadn't opened his mouth, these factions would have never been created, the boys wouldn't be afraid of the dark, and this Beast, a mere fragment of imagnation, wouldn't exist. And while the leaders are bad, Ralph is definately the one I'd go with. At least he is trying to get the boys rescued. But what happens to Jack once all the pigs are dead? All hunted down, all murdered, and all eaten. Jack would come crawling back to Ralph's group, and would probably commit suicide out of shame.
LOTF (lots of tigers fibrously) - Luke
I think LOTF is a really good book. I am really enjoying it. There are some twists and turns through it. The book is interesting and I'm looking ford to who the beast and the king fly is.
Lord of the flies- Will S
At the moment in class we are reading Lord of the flies or LOTF. It is a fantastic read and I can already sence that I am going to want to read it again. The one character I feel I have the most sympathy for Piggy, because you can tell he is extremly out of his comfort zone but he is taking what comes at him head on and is definetly the most logical thinker. One of the things I love about the book is the fact that you feel you know the characters or at least I do because I genuinley want them to get of the island. If I were to sum the three main characters I would say, Piggy is a thinker and wants to get off the island more then anything. Ralph is keen to keep everything in an order and has the main goal of survival. Jack he wants to have fun and just enjoy his time and more then anything he wants to hunt.
If I were to sum up the book in one sentence I would say "exciting, suspensful and a book that anyone would like."
If I were to sum up the book in one sentence I would say "exciting, suspensful and a book that anyone would like."
LOTF-Toby C
There is on main reason why I like this book, the reason is I have always had a fantasy that I would get stranded on a island and I would have to look after and feed myself. Jack and his hunting buddies are the ones that lead the traps and supply the group with the food they need to survive. Piggy is the brains of the group although he is not the best at building things he can see things in different ways to the other boys for example the can only see his glasses are for piggy to see. Piggy see something that can start fires, signal boat and most importantly lets him see. Ralph is the leader he is a good alrounders player from building things to leading assembles. It is a great book for all boys and girls that love a good read.
Lord Of The Flies - Atharva
I think Ralph is becoming more and more adamant as the book goes on. I think they should have multiple fires instead of one big one. The group should have a mutiny to kill Ralph or make their own group. What I don't understand is why having some conch gives you the right to speak and Ralph is just a bit crazy to claim himself the best just because he has some stupid conch. Overall, EVERYONE IS CRAZY.
Lord of the flies - Jim
I am enjoying the book a lot and like the style of writing. You can really feel the tension and a lot of things are starting to fall apart. To me all of the hunters are annoying because they are childish and only care about killing and not about survival or rescue. I have the most sympathy for piggy became he is the most intelligent and reasonable boy on the island yet he gets bullied. If I were on the island I would come for piggy and Ralph because they work well together as a team.
Lord Of The Flies-(HUGO)
I can feel the pressure in the book and am starting to hate both Ralph and Jack. Ralph because of how much he ignores Piggy and Jack because of how much he loves hunting, being leader and generally being a bully. I feel sympathy for Percival and Piggy. Both P's aren't being listened to even when they are right. The book is so super interesting because even when nothing is happening it means something. I think Lord Of The Rings Flies is a very good book for all of the reasons I have just stated. I believe it is worthy of all of the praise and is generally amazing. ሁጎ ኦዑት
Lord Of the Flies Jame$
Lord of the flies, a modern day classic, this book has captivated me from start to chapter 7. I just love how there is always happening it. A good sentence to sum it up is a modern day classic written sixty years ago
LORD OF THE RINGS
I think that Lord of the Rings is a classic from about 1950 till 2000 but now it is just a very good book but not a modern day classic. I am quite enjoying and can feel the tenson building up between Ralph and Jack and think someone is going to die. My favourite charcter is Piggy because he has brains and knows what is needed and what will kill them.
Gourd of the Pies-Max
It's compelling because you can see the innocence and humanity crumbling away. Pretty much all of the characters are frustrating because they are so stupid, they don't even scavenge the plane. Simon because he is as frustrated as me with everyone else being stupid. I would just ditch the group and I would be leader. "Spoiler: everyone dies".
Lord of the Flies - Matt
The character that annoys me most is Ralph I think he should just go with the flow. I honestly don't know why it is so popular because I don't think that it is a very good book. I would give my vote to whoever offered me food (Jack).
Lord of the Flies - Mr T
Good morning boys. We are right in the thick of the action and well past the halfway mark of LOTF. Can you feel the the pressure and tension build in the story? Why do you think this book (and especially the characters) are so compelling? What sort of techniques does William Golding use to draw out the storyline? Which character annoys/frustrates you and why? Of which character do you have the most sympathy? Why do you think a book such as this sells so many copies and is so highly regarded by the literary world? If you were on that island who would have your vote? If you were to sum up this book so far (even with five chapters to go...) in one sentence for a blurb on a back cover, what would it be?
