Americas Cup - Campbell

I have an interesting take on the America's Cup.  While some people are captivated by boat racing I myself do not share a huge interest in it, while I enjoy sailing and and enjoy watching the races I find that I don't follow it and don't stress over the results.

Despite this I have found that I am enjoying watching/following the Americas cup.  I think this is because it is a huge national sport and winning the America's Cup would be a great achievement for a small country like New Zealand.

Although it is great to see a great amount of success in New Zealand I do not think that the boats skipper or the team's coach should get a knighthood for one success.  I think this because there are many New Zealanders who have achieved similar awards/trophies who have not been given a knighthood.  Richie McCaw for exampled led the All Blacks to a rugby world cup win but didn't get knighthood.  Fairness aside I do not think it is an achievement that would merit knighthood yet.  If the team continues this winning streak then a knighthood should definitely be considered seriously.

I think sailing and the America's Cup is good sport for New Zealand and I think the Government should look at developing it more in children.
