ğöąłş - ąñdrëw
I can't remember exactly what my goals were, but I have already got into the 1st VIII tennis. I haven't spent much time thinking about my goals. So far, I dont think that I could've completed any of them because they were things like ICAS and making 1st XI football, so they haven't come up yet.
Goals-Anish
I remember her all my academic goals but haven' t completed any because I need to wait until I get my ICAS and I think I can do it and get the one I am looking for, Maths. I will try really hard at all the subjects and maths.
I think that I have completed my goal of getting through for athletics for the 800 and 400 metre race. I hope that I can do just as well in ICAS and x country
My goals-Gus M
My goals:
Sporting: My sole sporting goal is to make the first eleven hockey team so I can go to Christchurch and play the final game there.
Acedemic: Probably just to get distiction in Science, English and Math.

Hi
I do think that I might pay lip service to some of my goals but I have completed several of my goals such as start french and playing Stairway To Heaven on the guitar. I think that I will complete most of my goalsfor this year.

Goals - Noah
I remember my goals were to: make friends, do well in swim sports and get a good score in ICAS maths. I think I've achieved my first 2 goals because I've made some friends and I did pretty well in swim sports. Since we haven't done ICAS yet I'm not sure about my 3rd goal.

Goals - Jim
I usually don't spend much time thinking about my goals as usually I change my goals during the year. Last year I completed all my goals as they stayed the same but I think they will be different this year. I have already completed four of my goals for the year and have only just realised as I don't keep my goals in mind when at school. I think having goals is important but they can change through the year and don't need to change your life. Goals are something that just keep you on track.
Goals-Max
I can remember most of my goals. I have been thinking about them recently because my mum has been disappointed with the amount of extracurricular activities I do. I have made a bit of progress on my discus goal and my Independent Study goal. The photography club goal. A WNB goal. I have been doing discus practises and training regularly.
goals hugo
My goals were to do well in independent study and in writers notebook. Also I need to improve handwriting. My hand writing has stayed the same and I don't have an idea what my independent study will be like. My writers notebook has been OK I think. I also think I have been achieving my other goals. I was disappointed in cricket but I can try again in term 4. I am looking towards cross country as I hope to get in the top 10.
GGGGOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLAAAAAASSSSSSOOOOOOOO-SAM
I can't remember what they are too well. I know I had one that was achieve at least Distinction in all ICAS tests. I don't spend too much time thinking about them except for when they become mentioned. I think I have made quite a lot of progress on my independent study goal.
Goals- Will
So far I have had pretty productive year but time is just keeps slipping away.
Personally my three biggest and most important goals for me this year was to make house captain, the 1XI soccer team and get highly commended in my I.S this year. All these goals are well on track as I have decided on my topic Ned Kelly and have started to traing for my football season plus I have done my speech and interview for house captain both of which I was really happy with.
This year will be my year! I am looking forward to all the fun things and hopefully by the end of it my goals will be on the score board and I'll be looking like this...

Um...Goals. Yeah. I've definitely remembered all of my goals...Some of them...Yeah. Maybe a bit less than that. But, to be honest, my goals, at this point in my life, aren't as important as when I'll be at college. Therefore, I do not find them very impotant. For example, say I want to get Excellence in this, then I will study very hard to make sure I do get Excellence in this, but at primary school, I don't think they matter that much. Sure, you might want to get into a football team, and so that would be quite important to you, and so you might make a goal for that. I have five swimming goals that I want to complete (let me rephrase that), I have five swimming goals that I will complete by the end of the year. But at school, where you will move up no-matter what, I don't believe that goals are very important.
Goals-Judd
I have spent a little bit of time thinking about my goals especially my sporting goal. I have achieved 3 of my goals and they are 1 of my academic goals and both of my cultural goals. One of the specific actions that have made has been making dinner with my sister on Friday nights. I intend on practicing to read music more, practicing cricket and to get my green light on my independent study so that I will have more time to research.

And he's got the ball... He runs u- oh, oh and he shoots! AND HE SCORES!! NEW ZEALAND WINS EVERYTHING!
Yeah, I'm not that much into soccer.
Also, pancakes are really yummy.
Goal-wise, I think that they "panned" out pretty well. (get itttttt?) Like making a friend. That happened. Also, getting into orchestra. That happened also.
Really, I've got no comments about this.
What I'm gonna say is that I think my goals are going very well.
Thank you, and goodnight.

No I could not remember my goals until you gave me the sheet. I have not spent much time thinking about my goals. I do not think I have made much progress with my goals. I haven't taken any specific action about completing my goals.
Goals - Luke
I can only remember two goals. They are to make friends with the year sevens and getting into the 1st XI. I've completed my first goal Which was to friends with the year sevens. I am positive that I will make it into the first eleven because Mr Parks told me that he needed me to run the wings this year. I'm also sure I will complete all my goals this year.
Goals - Mr T
Good morning boys. Setting goals (in whatever shape or form) is part of what we do here at Wellesley. Now is about the right time to revisit your goals for this year. Can you remember what they are? How much time have you spent thinking about them? How much progress do you think you have made? Which ones would you change or eliminate totally? What would you add? Do you see a danger of paying 'lip service' to your goals and finding that they drift off never to be seen again? What specific actions have you taken in order for you to achieve your goals? What action do you intend to take in order to fulfill your goals?

The Return of Rhyme and Reason - Jim
I personally have quite enjoyed reading the book. I think it is really unique and has been well thought through. I am completely oblivious to why the author would write this type of book. It takes certain minds I guess. I would have not guessed that the book was written in 1961 as it doesn't have older language or themes. I think that for a book to become a classic it has to be unique and interesting so that lots of people read it and so it gets its 'classic' status. My favourite character is Tock because he is a loyal companion and quite adventurous. I would rate the book 8/10 because it was really unique.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason-Judd
I have incredibly enjoyed reading the Phantom Tollbooth as it has been full of adeventure and funny quips. I would rate this book 9 out of 10 because there is always something happening in the book and there are no boring bits. If we had not discussed it I definitely would not have noticed that it was published in1961. My favourite character would have to be the watchdog as he has always got a hand on time and knows that you can't waste time. I do think that Milo will rescue Rhyme and Reason because it is a childrens book and nothing sad is allowed to happen in a childrens book but apart from that it's a 50-fifty chance.
The Phantom Tollbooth- Will Saunders
What a read. When we started this book I wasn't sure whether I was going to like it. It seems so long ago that the character we now no and long for more adventures of his was introduced. Milo. But even though he was the main character my favourite character would have had to have been the Math Magician because he was over talkative (like me) and always managed to explain stuff without explaining anything. Over all I think this book was great and just goes to show that the saying is correct 'oldie but a goodie'.
The return of Ryhme and reason- NOAH
i would rate the phantom tollboth 8/10 because it's funny and I have enjoyed it. I would not of known that it was published in 1961 if we hadn't descussed it because it doesn't seem very different to the books around now. Over all I think it's a good book.

The book the great, fantastic book. I really enjoyed the book. This book is brilliant the Phantom of the Tollbooth. The idea behind it is great and I have really enjoyed listening to it and have loved most of the characters. This is one of the best book that I think Mr Tait has read. I hope that the next book that we read is even better.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason - Max
I rate it 58/100 (get it). Yes, I have enjoyed it. To possibly reflect his childhood. No, I wouldn't have known. To be a classic, it has to be well known, lasted over a few decades and well written.Yes. The Dirty Bird. Yes, happily ever after.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason-Tom A
The Phantom Tollbooth is a book that has deserved its status as a Classic. I would recomend it to people of all ages. I think a book would gain the title of a classic when it has been very popular for a long time. I would rate it 8 3\4/10. My favourite character is the long-nosed,green-eyed, curly-hair, wide-mouthed, thick-necked, broad-shouldered, round-bodied, short-armed, big-footed monster. If Milo rescues Rhyme and Reason I think that the two city-states will unite and peace will reign in the Kingdom of Wisdom.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason-GusM
The book Mr Tait is reading us, The Phantom Tollbooth, is nearly finished, and it seems there is so much more to be told. The aim of the protaganist, Milo, is to rescue the Princesses Rhyme and Reason. Though does he know what he is getting himself into? He has little to no idea what the Princesses are like, or what will happen when they are released from their floating prisson. And what about the author? Where on earth (or the kingdom of wisdom) did he get the idea from. In the story Milo gets round on a battery powered car. And the aouthor wrote this story in the sixties. Mabye he just wanted to teach some people some valuable lessons, like: don't jump to conclusions. Now, I musn't spend all day here it's going to be such a wonderfull day. But, I shouldn't jumpto conclusions.
The return of Rhyme and Reason - luke s
The phantom tollbooth, is probably an escape to the authors childhood, into his imagination, into his literal, yet metaphorical mind, this book is a reflection of that. It is a classic because it has built its way into our minds from the moment it was published, to now, thus it has became a point of classic reference.
The return of Rhyme and reason - Luke
I would rate the Phantom Tollbooth 7538817362/1000000000. I think that he wrote this book because of a dream he dreamed. I really like this book and think that it has gone very fast. My favourite character is Eric. I'm surprised that this book is 80 years old because it is 9 years older then Mr Tait.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason - Toby M
I think that Milo is very brave and I have found the book very informative. For example I never knew that
My favourite character is the long-nosed, green-eyed, curly-haired, wide-mouthed, thick-necked, broad-shouldered, round-bodied, short-armed, bow-legged, big-footed monster. But in reality my favourite character is the long-nosed, green-eyed, curly-haired, wide-mouthed, thick-necked, broad-shouldered, round-bodied, short-armed, bow-legged, big-footed monster.
- Cars could run on thoughts
- A's were delicious
- Hurrying around not looking up results in everything
- That diamonds and emeralds are worthless and threes and sevens are nearly priceless and many more
My favourite character is the long-nosed, green-eyed, curly-haired, wide-mouthed, thick-necked, broad-shouldered, round-bodied, short-armed, bow-legged, big-footed monster. But in reality my favourite character is the long-nosed, green-eyed, curly-haired, wide-mouthed, thick-necked, broad-shouldered, round-bodied, short-armed, bow-legged, big-footed monster.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason
I rate The Phantom Tollbooth 7 out of 10 and It I have enjoyed The Phantom Tollbooth a lot and think it is definitely worthy the title of a 'Classic'. My favorite character is the smallest giant, the biggest midget, the fattest thin man and the thinnest fat man. I think that Milo will go and rescue Rhyme and Reason and he will not want to come back because people are to mean to him and he is making people happy in the land he is in.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason - Andy Rew
I am really enjoying the phantom tollbooth and rate it 4 1/2 stars. If I was Norton Juster, as soon as I had an idea like this, I would go full steam ahead and write the book, so I think that's probably what happened. A classic is a book that's been around for a long time and is still thought very highly of, and the phantom tollbooth definitely fits into the 'classic class'. My favourite character in the phantom tollbooth is probably the mathematician.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason - Atharva
For me, the Phantom Tollbooth should be rated four and a half stars for the laughs and new words we learn. I think this book is fabulous. I think Norton Juster wrote this book so it can boost a child's imagination from a dragon and shiny armour to a tollbooth that 'teleports' them to a magical land with people and places you could never have thought of. I don't think I would have known this book if it wasn't discussed. I think for a book to reach a 'classic' status, it has to be very old (like the Phantom Tollbooth, because it dates back to 1961) and it has to still be loved by viewers. I do think the Phantom Tollbooth should be a classic. My favourite character is the Humbug because I would react in the same way the Humbug has done. Finally I do think that Milo will rescue Rhyme and Reason and Milo would become the hero for the Kingdom of Wisdom.
The Return Of Rhyme And Reason. HUGO
I would rate the book 9/10 because how everything is not what you expect. I like how Norton Juster used saying into literal things. Norton Juster may have written the book because no one had done anything quite like it. I think a classic book has to be sort-of old and has to be a good book. I think the Phantom Tollbooth has both. I think that Rhyme and Reason will be saved because it is a kids book.
the return of rhyme and reason - Matt
Is the phantom tollbooth a classic? well a classic needs to be old(ish) the phantom toll is. It needs to be quite popular, the phantom tollbooth is. I think that Milo will rescue rhyme and reason and that will mean the kingdom of wisdom will make A WHOLE LOT MORE SENSE.
teh return of the rhymingz and the reasonings - Ned
ayyyyyy, howzit goin'?
Norton Juster is 85 years old. EIGHTY. FIVE.
tidbits!
Maybe Norton wrote The Phantom Tollbooth because he went there in a dream as a kid, and wanted to recreate that feeling for the world and all the creatures bestowed upon it to see?
I probably would not have known that TPH was written in 1961 if I was told about it, because it has no stuff that existed in 1961, and it could've been based in 2012.
It probably achieved the "classic" standard by children loving it for years and years and years, because of it's creativity.
Well, here's my ending to this.

The Return of Rhyme and Reason - Anish
I really like rhe setting of the book and the good choice of the title 'The Phantom Tollbooth', so I would give it a rating of 9/10. My favourite character is Tock because I like how he ticks instead of tocks and I also like him because he is a dog and I like dogs. I think Milo can rescue Rhyme and Reason because the main character always has good luck.
The return of rhyme nad reason - Tim
I would rate 'The Phantom Tollbooth' 8/10 bananas. It is a great book with some ver silly things happening in it. It seems to lack bananas but I can forgive that because of the way it takes pretty much everything literally. I have definitely enjoyed it.
A book reaches classic status by (generally) being at least 5 years old (tick) a really good book (tick) and written by somebody with an obscure name that you don't know how to pronounce until somebody official looking says it with confidence. Then, you think that's how its pronounced untill someone else official looking pronounces it differently. (tick)
My favourite character is the Soundkeeper, because she is so obssesed with order that she removes all sound in the valley of sound so that bad sounds are gone, instead of simply removing bad sounds, or enforcing rules of which bad sounds are illegal, and the punishment would be that you cant make sound for so long or only being able to make banana sounds.

The Return of Rhyme and Reason
To be honest, I almost forgot that Milo was a boy that was never interested in anything. It seems like he has been in the Kingdom of Wisdom forever, and every time Mr. T reads us the Phantom Tollbooth, I have to remind myself that. Milo certainly fits in. It never really seems like he is and outsider to me. And to be honest, I cannot believe that this book was written in "62. It seems like it could be in a book written yesterday. But it is because it has very little mention of any technology. The only technology it mentions (that I can recall) are cars an radios, and pencils.
The return of rhyme and reason-Sam
I rate it a 9/10. I have enjoyed it a lot it is quite weird but very clever. I think he wrote it because he wanted to show people clever things and he has expressed that in the book. Using different characters to show different things and the importance of those things. I would have thoght it was first published in 2001 or something if I didn't know. So it seems that this book was written forty years before its time. I think a book gets a classic status if it is an old book that since it came out has had high sales that have been consistent over time. I definitely think the phantom tollbooth deserves to be a classic. My favourite character would have to be tock dog because he is not the main main character, has an important role, not like the Humbug. Who as the writer said answers everything first incorrectly. I think Milo will rescue Rhyme and Reason and the Kingdom will live in peace again.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason-James
I think that this could be a classic If major booksellers knew about it and how good and how many funny puns it has. I rate it quite highley maybe a 9.34/10 I would rate it highly because of the good storyline and dry humour. I think that Milo will but they will not want to come back because of how they were treated by the two kings. Overall The Phantom Tollbooth is a great novel.
The Return of Rhyme and Reason - Mr T
Good morning boys. We are currently reading The Phantom Tollbooth as our class novel. We have three chapters for us to complete the book. How do you rate it? Have you enjoyed it? Why do you think the author, Norton Juster, wrote this book? Think about the date first published (1961). Would you have known this if we hadn't discussed it? The copy we are reading is called a Collins Modern Classic. How does a book reach 'Classic' status? Is The Phantom Tollbooth worthy of that 'classic' status? Who is your favourite character? Do you think Milo will rescue Rhyme and Reason and what will that mean for The Kingdom of Wisdom?

Finding my niche - Andy rew
I've definitely 'found my niche' in 78t - all thanks to Mr. Tait, he runs the class so well. I think that i'm very creative and logical thinker, and that's why I love things like science, art, maths, writing and things like that. I also love sports and was extremely happy to be in two first teams last year and so far one this year. I am really looking forward to independent study.

if you love to play a sport or love art or dance then follow your dream. I think Wellesley is a great place to learn something like that because it offers so much and the list would go on for miles. My main activities are rugby athletic cricket basket ball I love it here and there are so many oppertunities..
Finding My Niche-Tom A
I think that I have found my niche at Wellesley in not just one thing but many. In the years that I have been at Wellesley I have done and participated in many things the latest of which has been being selected for the Lit Quiz A team. Wellesley provides many opportunities for everybody, big or small. I think that I have found my niche at Wellesley. How about you?
finding my niche-hugol
I have not yet found my niche and do not know what it might be. I think that I'm an OK writer and reader. I also think I am a pretty good sportsman. My niche could be making codes: YADB ORU UEM. That is a possibility. If you do crack it, send me what it really says. HUGO OUT
Finding my niche - Josh
Finding a niche is something hard to find. One thing you love more than anything else. Some place in Wellesley where I slot in. So here I go. Before I came to Wellesley I had no idea that I was into art. But now I absolutely love it. If you don't catch me working you'll probably see me doodling something absurd. I used to doodle on everything. Even now I have to stop myself from doodling on my maths book. If it were up to me my school day would be:
9am - 10:40am: Art
11am - 11:45am: Wharf Jumping
11:45am - 12:30pm: French and English
1:20pm - 2:00pm: Independent Study
Another thing that I love is maths, although I dislike problem solving I really enjoy statistics and I love graphs and stats and analysing data. Thats why I want to be a statistician when I'm older. I also enjoy drama and writing. I love the freedom of writing and using my imagination to the fullest. I also enjoy portraying a character with my dramatics. Overall I guess i'm an dramatic, artsy, wharf jumping statistician that enjoys writing.
Finding my niche - Max
Yes. Computers/writing. I am a gamer and I like doing stuff about or with tech. I am comfortable around computers and prefer them to some of its real life equivalents eg: Handwriting-Word, Games-Sport (some sport). I am also comfortable with the boys and staff here.
Finding my niche-Judd
I would like to say that I love coming to school everyday because of all the things around school it is practically a school camp everyday. I think my niche is playing sport as I love PE (especially in summer when we go swimming in the sea). I enjoy this because it is often packed full of excitement and a good run around. I also enjoy learning about most topics and I am very much so looking farward to the indpendant study.
Finding my niche- Will
Don't let people pressure you into doing things you don't want to, if you want to make the most out of life find something your good at and work hard for it. I know that for the past seven years I have been working hard and putting in the time and effort to be a good soccer player because it's something I am passionate about and something that makes me happy. It doesn't always have to be sport either my big brother is really good at science getting an excellence endorsed with 99 excellence credits in his NCEA level 1, this was something that I was worried about at the start of last year because I didn't know how I was going to be able to do what he's done but I have since realised that I have things he's not that good at and he has things I'm not that good at.
But every one has something they're good at whether they find it when they're five fifteen or fifty no matter what you have to work hard and be prepared to do what it takes to make you be doing the best job possible at whatever it is.

I think it's amazing the opportunities that Wellesley has to offer in so many different parts of the school. I think the things that I like doing most here are art and hockey. I think that's mainly because I spend a lot of time doing art and hockey outside of school as well. But I think there are so many great things to do at Wellesley that I just enjoy everything. I think that Wellesley is really great in the way that it has something for everyone. Even if it takes you a while to find it there is something for you.
Finding my niche - Toby M
I really enjoy Wellesley. One of my favourite things are all of the opportunities.
There is so much on offer at Wellesley eg: Saxophone, Lit Quiz, sports, maths, leadership training, art and performing arts, science and much more. I really like things that are challenging where I have to think like our independent study. I think that I am doing well with Saxophone and Maths. I have been at Wellesley for four years and I have learnt so much here. I've learnt about tech, my spelling has improved a lot but my main highlight has been maths.

First off, I thorougly enjoy school (in case no-one noticed), and the opportunities of the school are tremendous. It's incredibly easy to find something that you enjoy, for example, you may enjoy artsplash, or you may enjoy sailing. The point is, Wellesley helps you find and do the things that you love. For example, Wellesley gave me the opportunity to play Underwater Hockey, which is incredibly enjoyable, and now I play a tournament whenever I can.
The things that I love doing are (sportwise): Sailing, Swimming (However I don't think I need to tell you that) Underwater Hockey, Soccer (or Football) and Skiing. There are many other things I enjoy that aren't sports, but here's a hint. If it involves water (with the exception of Water Polo, and kayaking, rowing, or anything related to that), then I will probably like it. For example (in my opinion, Hockey is quite boring. But Underwater Hockey is something different. So, that I suppose, is my niche.
Finding my niche- Gus M
Finding my niche, wow that is difficult. Ha-ha, just kidding (I think), my niche I would think is writing or reading. Ooh, and science. Another thing I love to do is do my independent study presentation, even though I only do it once a year, and the fact that it's pretty nerve wracking, to say the least. Before I leave I would like to ask you one thing: what's your niche?

My niche is probably QuizUp because I'm the second best in NZ at Mario sooooo yah.
Also, one of them is probably writing really weird stories like Harry the Horseless Headless Horseman. Yeah.
A lot of people said last year that I would be a great debater, maybe I will and maybe I won't?

My niche is being in 7/8T, because it's going to be a big surprise when our new room is done. I hadn't seen the old 7/8T last year, to add to the surprise. Another thing about being in 7/8T is that you're not being hammered with work and you're not given easy work, so it fits the level of tolerance of work for everyone in the class. and ther's also a lot of friendly class mates so you never feel like you're on your own. last but not least, Mr Tait. I've never had a teacher like him in my whole life.

Finding My Niche - Luke
I think I have found my niche in writing. In year six I wrote two books. and I think I might get them published. I love writing the WNB's of the week. I like debating as well. As a big reader I love to Wright books to. Reading and then talking about the book helps me to understand the passage. Also after a movie I like to debate about what happened.

In my 2 years here at wellesley, I have learned a lot. I have learned a lot about maths, I have learned how to write more gooderer, but most importantly to me, I have learned a lot about computers. I really enjoy using computers, whether its to write my WNB or to be researching/typing on my independent study or whether I'm creating a game on scratch, or just plain playing a game.

I think my niche is having fun Because I love playing with friends and having while playing outside. I also think my niche is cricket because it's really cool to play for Wellesley and it is lots of fun. I would also like have a niche of being a good writer. I think I can achieve that by putting more effort into writers notebook. I think that everyone can be good at everything if they try. Wellesley gives you so much opportunity to find your niche.

I definitely have found my niche here. My niche is probably maths because I'm good at it and I like it. I love playing sports and independent study. I am not scary like other kids. You get a lot of sporting opportunities at Wellesley my favourite sports are Cricket, Football, UWH and Rugby.
Finding my niche - Mr T
Good morning boys - You often hear about how many opportunities Wellesley has on offer. It is impossible for every boy to be the best mathematician, the best writer, the best speaker, sportsman, dancer, debater, piano player etc. Have you found your niche here. What is your niche? What sort of person are you and what do you love doing? As a teacher here I really feel like I have found my niche - school, colleagues, boys, environment, parent support, year group, teaching boys for two years on the trot etc. One thing I absolutely love doing is sharing a book with you boys (Genesis spring to mind because it challenges me as the reader and you as the listener) and the discussion that it generates. Organising debating is another...and don't get me started on Independent Study presentations... If you haven't yet found your niche then what niche do you seek?

Bouncing Back - Toby M
Sometimes I get really frustrated with tiny things, like say my brother has done something in my room. Or I make one silly little mistake in a test. There are other things that annoy me, slightly bigger things like getting paint on my school shirt at art or getting a horrible placing on the tennis B ladder. But like Mr Owen and my Dad say, Grit. Why should everything go your way. The world wasn't made for you and you alone. But if you stuff up in something then you should try to do better next time. In fact that is going to be my new quote.
"Do better next time". Yes that has a nice ring to it.
But still. You can't let your failures get into your head. If
