Miss Peregrine - Mr T

Good afternoon boys.  Last night I got to thinking about our class book list for this year.  I may be wrong but I think you have been privileged to share 5-6 very very good novels and a couple of short stories.   There seems to be an unstoppable surge in good children's literature at the moment. Our current novel (Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children) seems to be creating a bit of a storm in the classroom.  Why is that?  What sort of book is it?  What genre does it fit into (if any)?  What is the power of knowing their is a sequel?  How important are the photographs?  We have talked about transition from book to film.  Is this book begging for a film adaptation?  Why?  A big picture question:  What is your favourite class novel this year (or top three if that is too hard)?  And lastly, why do you think it is important just to be able to listen to a story in a classroom.  What value does it add?
