Wrapping up two beasts... Hugh

Yes I did see the twist coming, as I said before I think their were to many 'egg droppings' and I also saw the twist outcome as soon as Art did the replicating. My novel cover may be of a half human, half orang type thing. In science fair the thing I learn't was that stringing popcorn is way harder than it looks! If I could rewind the clock I would make it so I did more science fair at home so I would have more time for Independent study at school!

The big(ish) wrap up.-Gus M

Science fair nearly done and Genesis is done now to. I guess everyone thought it was a 'twist' ending, ha ha. Well, not so 'ha ha' for Anaximander though. I'm glad Ben and I have finished our science fair. Well, not quite yet, I still haveto do the Log Book, though it's going to look more like a blog folder, but Ben says we don't need a log book but I'm going to do it anyway, so there!

squishing dem two wild thangs-george

Genesis was a great book let down by a terrible ending. It was too typical friend turns evil, takes over world and death, mayhem and destruction. The beginning was so much better, and I was hoping for more like it. what I really hoped for was some information about the rest of earth after the plague. I envisaged a sort of anarchy civilisation with many small tribe like groups of up to 100 people engaged in wars while they fought in a plague ridden landscape. And the plague was not dead. Far from it... Pericles on the other hand, no idea. All he did was tell people stuff and kill Anax. A alternative ending would be fun. Some peeps from the rest of earth would come in with flamethrowers and bazooka guns and annihilate Plato's republic, and they would be wearing sombreros!
and science fair, too much stress. But quite fun though!

Wrapping up two Beasts - Henry C

I liked Genesis but for me it seemed like a pretty good sci-fi and the other sci-fi books do not look as good. For me the better books are the ones like CHERUB and Alex Rider, the books that actually could be real. But if you count books like The Hunger Games and the Divergent series as sci-fi then sci-fi can be good but most other sci-fi books are HORRIBLE.

Then there's science fair...... In the past two times I've done it science fair has been horrible. The story has been the same for every year, we get told about it I take over half the time allowed to think of a topic and by the time I get round to testing I only have one week to write up all my results and get it on a board. This year was only a bit better but still me an Hugh's board looks way better than the last two years I've done it.

Wrapping Up Two Beasts-Luke

Finally my science fair is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that I did really well. I'm proud of myself. I hope the judge is a good one.
Genesis is now at a close and I can talk to people about the end of the book. I thought that it was a good book.

Wrapping up two beasts...- Toby C

When I first heard that we had to do a science fair I wasn't very happy. I wondered how we were meant to do the independent study as well. Once I had finished testing I was really starting to enjoy doing a science fair. I also really enjoyed being test subjects for other pupils in my class. We have been reading a book in class called Genesis at the start of the story I didn't particularly enjoy it. But as we read on it stared to grow on me by the end of the book I was loving it. I really enjoyed it.

Rapping about two beasts by FOAMY CALLUM

I am really proud of my Science Fair. Me and George decided to do a technology fair, which was to build a Dog Feeder. We did really well, I think and our finishing product looked great (I was  pretty late painting the Dog Feeder).

Also, as we finished Genesis today, I'll do a little review:

Genesis is an awesome book that has an awesome ending. It has loads of twists in it, and you are always thinking about what will happen next. I would recommend it for years 13 up, as there is loads of interesting content that need you really need to understand.

I would rate it 9/10.

If I could give it a crazy alternate ending, it would involve Art revealing he is a mutant ninja orangutan disguised as a robot, and Adam revealing he is a robot disguised as a human. They then have an epic rap battle. This lasts for 3000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 chapters.

Wrapping up two beasts - Jim

I think that the twist gives it a some what depressing and sad ending and I certainly didn't see it coming. I think Pericles was a bit of an evil character because they were killing all the mutated androids which stops them from free thinking. Also if it is programmed into the androids that they are not allowed to harm another concious being then how can Pericles kill Annax. I am kind of glad science fair is over because it was quite a challange and now I can get along with independent study.

Covering two animals-Max

I thought the twist was kind of scary and depressing. I doesn't make me want to read anymore sci-fi than I already do, but it's remade the way I look at books. I don't think I will do that well in the judging, eg prizes places... I would make better use of my time and get a buddy.

I  feel like it needed four memes this week!

Wrapping up two Beasts...-Ben S

Finishing Science Fair was a huge relief. It would have been terrible for someone to have not completed Science Fair in time. That was no one from our class, or school, probably, who was late for Science Fair. As for Genesis, I think it was great. Not many answers to questions, but at least there were answers. And I loved how the book had ridiculous twists in it, for example (look away those who have not read the book) Art cheating Adam, or perhaps the extinction of humans on NZ. Or maybe Anaximander. This one I won't spoil. Genesis was a great book, and I would highly recommend this to others who have not yet read the book. As for Science Fair, I would not recommend that to anybody who has done it more than once,  or has lots of work to do. It actually surprised me how much the Independent Studies were halted for Science Fair. Finally no more distractions this term. Production next term + Ind. Study being halted = doom...

Wrapping up two beasts - Callum H

I really really enjoyed Genesis although I do think a satisfactory epilogue is needed. I don't think I fully understanded the end, I think I should read it again.

Science fair! I'm so glad it's over that was some stressful shiznit. I think the most valuable thing I learnt was that red bull does give you wings.

Wrapping up two beasts... - Mr T

Good afternoon boys.  Today we completed two major 'things'.  Our class novel, Genesis is now complete. What did you make of the 'twist' (pun intended) at the end.  Did you see it coming?  What do make of Pericles' role in the story?  Does this spark an interest in other Sci-Fi novels?  Other NZ authors?  Next week I will be asking you to create a 'snapshot' for a title page with a new title (some great suggestions last week).  Start thinking about your ultimate image which defines this book for you.  Secondly, Science Fair exhibits are now complete.  What was the most interesting thing you learned during the process?  How do you think you will fair in the judging?  If you could rewind the clock one term what would you do differently?

Genisis/Gus M

When this new class novel [Genesis] is finished I think I might read it. But I do not think it should be made into a movie. It is far too coplicated, because in the examination Anaximanda shows the holagram which is stopped at random intervels and this would seriously disrupt the film.

When Adam challenges Art six months after they met, Art's intelligence has obviously improved following the course of the argument. At this point I no longer believe that Art is more human then Adam thinks. Now Art is more advanced than the smartest, most intelligent human and can out reason Adam. But Art is not alive any more than a wall is conscious, because as Art said, living is defined by dying.

I'm also think than Genesis should not become a movie becuse of the suprise ending of... whoops! Sorry, can't tell.

Genesis - Jim

I think that Adam is trying not to speak to Art but can't help himself. Art wants him to speak to him and likes it when adam does when he doesn't want to. I find Art annoying because he is needy and always talks when Adam does't want him to. If I could change the title I would call it Artifficial Interactions because that's what happens in most of the book. I think it's great that it's set in NZ because you don't get any fiction booksset in NZ. I am really enjoying it and can't wait to see what happens in the end.

Genesis "THE BOOK"- Nicholas

Genesis is a great book and I am enjoying it a lot now. Although the beginning was good it got a bit confusing now it makes more sense. I think that Annax Amanda is the protagonist. I can't wait to see how the rest of the book pans out! I like art because he has a troll personality.

Genesis - Mr. Callum

Bernard Beckett is a really good writer, and I am amazed with his detailed alternative history. Genesis is probably the best book we have read in class, and I really like the story.

In amser to Mr. Tait's question, I do think that Adam deserves to be the main character as the story is mainly about him, but it also features Anax quite a bit as well.

Genesis-Theo

I am really enjoying Genesis and I can't wait to see what happens at the end.  I think that Adam is also a protagonist. I liked art at the beginning because he was kind and just wanted to talk, but now he is trying to pick holes in Adam and outsmart him. I don't think there's much chance of a happy ending. I really like how it is set in NZ istead of America and England. Overall I think Genesis is a great novel.

Genesis

Genesis is a brilliant book it leaves you hanging. I hate art he is an idiot. I rate bernard beckets writing 10/10 his style of writing is amazing.

Genesis-Ben S

I love Genisis. I think it's a great book. Art is actually very clever. He manages to provoke Adam Forde into having all these arguments with him, which makes Art more like a human every day. Benard Beckett is a very clever author. He manages to create two stories for the price of one. The story of Adam Forde, and the story of Anaximander. Adam Forde's life is very interesting. I still don't know how he plays such a large part in the destructiong of Plato's Republic, and it obviously has something to do with Art. Maybe when Art is released, he destroys the Republic because of his long time with Adam. Maybe Art becomes like Adam. Adam is unpredictable. So is Art. Doom...

Genesis-Luke

I have read the book but I think that the book will end in the death of Adam. My three new titles are: Art The Robot, The Program, and Art And Adam. All I'm Saying is that there is a big twist at the end.

*****

Genesis-Max.xaM-siseneG

I think that it works well with the interview because it adds more depth. I think that Anax is no doubt the main protagonist but Adam still has a very high role. I like Art because, different to other books the robots don't rebel (at least not yet...).  Gemini, The Trial, The Academy. I think it would be an amazing movie by Weta Workshop.

GENESIS - JOSH

Genesis is an amazing book which really makes you think. I think Anaximander is an intelligent and curious girl. She doesn't like gossip but likes studying on Adam Forde's life. I think she is a curious character and one that's hard to understand. I think that Art who is a lonely character who just wants some attention. I think that Art is learning Adam's traits and is beginning to be more and more like Adam. I think that the story will have an unhappy ending because I think that Bernard Beckett is an author who writes in an interesting and unique way! If I could rename the book I would call it either:

  • Anaximander
  • The mysterious life of Adam Forde
  • If orangutans were robots...
I would rate Bernard Beckett's writing 15\10 because I think his style of writing keeps you hanging till the very last word. I think Genesis would make an awesome movie if it had a good director and a good cast. For me the most memorable scene is when Adam kills Joseph.
The picture above is what I think Art looks like

Genesis ANDREW

I think that anaximander is the main protagonist. I like the way that she is recalling the story, rather than having it from Adams view. To me, Art is an interesting character. At the start, Adam doesn't want to interact woth art, but he pretty much just can't resist! My titles would be
1 The plague
2 The life and times of Adam Forde
And I can't think of anything else. I think that genisis would be a great movie.

Genesis.siseneG - Tim H

I am thoroughly enjoying Genesis, it is a very interesting (if not slightly chaotic) book. Art seems to be somewhere between a friend and an enemy to Adam. If  I could rename this book the titles that I would chose would be:

  1. Art
  2. The test
  3. The Academy.
This book would be very good as a film because of its interesting setup.

Genesis Energy ~ William

^New Front Cover for Genesis^

I am enjoying Genesis, the way that Bernard Beckett has two stories going at once is quite interesting but it makes it quite confusing for me. I don't think Anaximander will be accepted in to the academy but that's just what I predict.

Genesis-GEORGE

Genesis is a really good book. It has really good writing but I find the arguments really weird.  They are really odd thoughts but the thing is that ART was made by these "inferior" species to do tasks they didn't want to do. Three new titles would be... Drugged up robot theories,  The Adam Incident and Anax's Application. Adam probably should be the main character but anyway it still works. I think Bernard Beckett is a great writer who has created a detailed alternate history. The best bit was the one when Adam was caught in the cave as it was very funny.

Genesis Hugh M

Yes, I'm really liking this book, proberley the best one I have been read in Mr. Taits class! I think that in the end of the book Art and Adam will end up accepting each other more, sort of like friends. I then think there might be a falling out and then Art might kill Adam!  No I don't really like Art, I have the same sort of view of Art that Adam has of Art at the moment. Maybe if I could rename Genesis I would call it Art or maybe The Android. I think it would make a brilliant film, but I doubt it will be made into one, as it is set in tiny NZ and it is not well known enough.

If you had the power to rename this book with three new titles, what would those titles be?  How do you rate Bernard Beckett as an author?  What is it about his writing style that you either like or dislike?  Do you think this book would translate well into a film?  What is your most memorable scene so far?  Your thoughts on the NZ setting?

Will S- Genisis

So far I am really enjoying the novel, but I am getting kind of lost with the whole presentation thing but on the whole it is a really great book that is keeping me captivated.
So far my favourite character is Adam because he thinks for himself and is very smart and clever.
I am also really enjoying the New Zealand setting and think the Bernard Beckett is an outstanding author.

Genesis - Callum H

At the moment I am really enjoying genesis I find it refreshing because of the fact that Bernard Beckett lets you know about everything like the exact produce of which the people in the towers shoot intruders.
I really like art in the way that he is a pain in the ass.

Genesis - Henry C

For me Genesis is a really good book if you stay in the flow because if you miss a part or don't listen for a part you can be really out of play. Like if you missed the part where they are first talking about art you wouldn't know who art was and you would be really confused. If you tune out for a few parts you could not get the whole book and that would be a shame because it is a really good book.

Genesis - Toby M

Right now I am really enjoying Genesis. It is really clever how the author is using names of Greek Philosophers as names of some main characters. Art is really cool, and I like how his monkey face has all sorts of features. I reckon that next Anax will do some sort of act of defiance, and the head examiner will press a button and security guards will take her away and imprison her. If I could rename the book, I'd call it

  1. Adam and Eve
  2.  The academy
  3. The link

Genesis - Mr T

Good morning boys.  Genesis.  What a novel!  We are almost 2/3 through and I would like you to put your thinking hats on.  What are your thoughts on Anaximander as the main protagonist?  Or...does Adam take that role?  How do you see the relationship between these two playing out?  Do you 'like' Art (not in the Facebook sense)?  How likely is it that this story will have a happy ending?  How do you know this?  If you had the power to rename this book with three new titles, what would those titles be?  How do you rate Bernard Beckett as an author?  What is it about his writing style that you either like or dislike?  Do you think this book would translate well into a film?  What is your most memorable scene so far?  Your thoughts on the NZ setting?
