Feeding the soul - Tim

The way I  'feed the soul' is sleeping in, building mud-castles and snorkeling at hideaway island in Vanuatu. This holiday I went to Vanuatu for two weeks, stayed in two different places and watched multiple (pirated) movies at a holiday resort. I created an un-googlable question, "ngrusgwakanwdkwavdk."
Its in a different language. You know, the one that hasn't been discovered yet.

Feeding the Soul - Henry C

Sleeping in till 9, having a cooked breakfast most day and doing nothing was definitely my idea of feeding the soul. Waking up at 7:15 every morning does have an effect on your health, if school was ten till four I reckon most people would be more refreshed and all the work would be done to a better standard. I have seen heaps of movies over the movies including The Heat, 22 Jump Street and What we do in the Shadows which were all really good expect for What We Do In The Shadows which was pretty average. All in all school isn't so bad it just starts to early.

Feeding the Soul Hugh

The way I fed my soul was by sleeping in to about ten thirty every morning and going to bed pretty early (for the holidays) at about ten thirty to eleven. The way I take myself out of the school routine is I go away with my family or hang out with friends in Wellington, but I do think about school in the third week. I was looking forward to school and at the same time I wasn't for obvious reasons. No I reckon the holidays don't dull the body if they go on too long, because most of the time you are recharging and relaxing, doing things you love. Yeah I saw an unmissable movie-22 Jump Street-the suqual to 21 Jump Street, is it seriously funny, but not for year sevens, as it is R13. I did make up an ungoogleable question - Is it possilble to turn a samsung galaxy s2 with chinese stock firmware into a western s2 i9100.

Devouring Thy enemies souls-George

This holiday was a very filling one. I read some good books, saw some good movies and went to some cool places. Is there a tipping point? Probably, but I doubt we reached it. Want an ungoogleable question? Is George Lethbridge, of Wellesley College in NZ, aged twelve years, really a mere mortal boy or is he an ancient daemonslayer from an alternate dimension? We will never know. (P.S note to self to restock soul gems. Last weeks Daemon used more than I expected) In terms of the combats in the world today I think that the Illuminati are behind everything, weakening relations between Russia and America until they can strike and achieve world domination. A reckoning is coming...

Feeding The Soul----(Theo)

Back again and refreshed. I think I 'fed my soul' well during the holidays as we didn't really do that much, so I had a lot of time to relax. I was sort of keen to get back to school, probably because there was a bit of a tipping point where I got bored and lethargic. I did give back to the family because I cooked dinner for the family on the last day of the holiday and they thought it was delicious. I feel very lucky to be a New Zealander considering what is happening in Gaza, Iraq and Ukraine. I will definitely try to push myself this term with I.S. and Production. I'm looking forward to the rest of the year!

Feeding the soul by Callum

I really enjoyed my holiday. I did the Wellesley Holliday program with Mrs. Owen, knocked down loads of card houses, but my highlight was going to Noosa in Australia. In Noosa, I learned how to SUP (stand up paddle board), whick I found really fun. I also went to the Australian Zoo (where I met  and played with a really cute young kangaroo!), and went to Aussie world, a theme park.

I watched  two movies in the holidays - Batman:The Dark Knight rises and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Both were really good. The Dark Knight Rises was pretty dark with Bane, a hulking man that is injected with venom, as the villain. Batman was also really cool, but my
favourite characyer was definitely catwoman, played by Anne Hathaway.
How to Train your Dragon2 was also cool, a really good movie for watching as a family.

Anyway, I got back from Aussie at 12:00  Saturday night (and got to bed at 1:30 ), so yeah i'm pretty tired.

Anyway, my holiday was fantastic, and i'm looking forward to school!

Feeding the soul - Toby C

When I had to see my brother and sister go back to school I found it very funny to watch. But this morning I found it very hard to get up and out of bed when I hot downstairs. I went back to sleep on the couch. I refused to put my uniform on but in the end I did. I got to stay in the best place in the hole world WANAKA. You can do anything there Sky dive, rifle shooting, water skiing, skiing/snowboarding, hiking, hunting, wine tasting, Lamborghini rides, horse treks, mini golf, golf, mountain biking, 4wd, ATV driving, monster truck, go karting, fishing, farming, sledding, tramps, clay bird shooting and these are just a few but this is why I love WANAKA. Me and my family love to ski in the winter holidays. Do you?

Feeding the Soul- Nicholas

The holidays have been essential. I 'feed my soul' by listening to music and laughing with my friends. I have also enjoyed doing a couple of holiday programmes and staying in Hamilton with my grandparents. I have been fairly relaxed and lazy (in a good way) and I have been watching the commonwealth games. I saw Dawn of the planet of the Apes in the holidays that was good. I think out of the 7 billion people in the world we are extremely lucky to live in New Zealand as it is the least corrupt country alongside denmark. It is sad to see tensions rising (again) in the middle-east with Isreal vs Palestine. I have sympathy for the Palestinian civillians because they have nowhere safe to go. However bad it may be with all these wars in my opinion North Korea is the most inhumane country in the world and it is so sad that the population is 'brainwashed' to think that Kim Jong Un is a good person which he is not. This was a blog post.

Feeding the Soul with the KFC Double Downer - William

Ahhh it's  nice to be back at school with my friends again. I'm still quite tired from my ski trip as I didn't get much sleep on the 5 nights we were there.

The way I 'Feed my Soul' in the holidays is with friends. Going to the movies, going to a pool, that sort of thing.

Sometimes I do get sick and tired of the holidays and want to be back at school but that only happens in the last week of the summer holidays. Even then, sometimes I don't feel keen to get back.

One of the things which I now realise as being one of my least intelligent moves is leaving all of my practice tests given to me to do in the holidays until the Sunday before school starts. Still, I got them done and dusted by dinner time which is nice.

In the end, when you think about it, school is for OUR sake, not a babysitting service so our parents can work. It's so we can achieve the best in life as possible.

Feasting thy Soul-Max

I wasnt too keen to get back to school because the Gold Coast was really fun. I finished three books: Zombie Tag, Dark Lord: The Teenage Years and UnLunDun. I will attempt to get a large chunk of my Independent Study done, whilst contributing to the house production. I went to the Gold Coast, which was a memorable experience for me because it was the first time I have gone overseas for seven years and the first time I have ever gone on a rollercoaster.

Feeding my HUNGRY soul - JOSH

In the holidays I watched heaps of movies, slept in, watched the Commonwealth Games and wore my onesie all day! I was looking forward and dreading going back to school. In the holidays I went to my favourite place in the world, Waikanae!!! I also saw some good movie like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Blended and How to Train your Dragon 2. This term I would really like to start my booklet and my presentation for my independent study and get as much work done for my independent study so that I'm happy with the work I've done and feel okay with the load I've got to complete in term four.

Feed the Soul-Luke

In the holidays my granny came and stayed with us for one week. How do old people drink so much tea. I made my granny about 50 cups of tea. My favourite way to pass time is reading. I also did a lot of Independent Study 28 hours to be correct. All terms are hard to push through because in term one there's settling in and in term two there's science fair and in term three there's production and in term four there's Independent Study Presenting.

feeding the soul andrew

To take myself out of the school routine I went down south to Wanaka. The long three week break was nice but I don't think that a longer break would have "made me more tired and lethargic". I didn't mind the idea of coming back to school seeing as I was there wasn't much to do and my brothers were at school. I tried something new (going to the treble cone peak to ski). I tried typing a masive sentence in google but it still comes up with answers so I have no idea how to get an "ungooglable" question. As I am new  to this school, I don't know how big the prodution is, but it sounds big but hopefully I will cope!

Feeding the soul - Jim

In the holidays how I feed my soul is being lazy all day. I also draw, read and like to watch movies at night with my family. It was kind of weird going back to school way later than the rest of my family and I think I might have got a bit over relaxed because I was tired in the holidays! I went to my favourite place in Kapiti  to relax but that meant I started work on independent study in week three of the holidays but I feel comfortable with the amount of work I have done so far. I also read Enders Game by Orson Scott Card which is one of my favourite books now. I think this term I will push by doing lots of extras that I can't fit in at school at home and making sure that I'm up to date with my weekly work before I think about production.

Feeding the soul - Toby M

When I walked into 7/8T I was expecting a nice quiet day. But no, we get straight into it. I've enjoyed the holidays immensely and I just thought that Mr Tait would be kind. The holidays have been really fun and at 3:00 on Friday I'm like yay I can relax. The next day I get dragged out of bed, shoved into our car and we were on the ferry by six thirty. At least after the two day journey I have a warm bed and I've been skiing. The other two weeks have been staying at home doing stuff. I have mixed feelings about coming back to school, including sadness, happiness, tiredness, energetic and depression.

Feeding the Soul - Ben S

It feels brilliant to be back. Honestly. I my brain can finally get back into the routine of school. Nothing gets the brain working again like school. But everybody needs holidays, and rest. But sometimes it just gets pushed too far. I know that several times during the Christmas holidays, I really felt bored. Sometimes you have to find simple things to do that maybe you don't get to do offen. Keep up on tghe world news, and what's happening. I spent several hours reading the newspaper, watching what was happening with Malaysia Airlines and Ukraine, and the Gaza Strip.

Feeding the soul- Will S

Over the holidays I feed my soul by taking my mind off school and going into full relax mode.
One of the ways I did that was I would go swimming in the pool we had at our hotel I also listened to a lot of music and spent time with my family I also decided to leave my school work and school books at home so I had no reminders or pressure.
Another thing that I did was watch movies a great one I think was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes it was a great movie that showed the real characteristics the humans share with monkeys.
And right now my soul is full but in the future that is what I will do.

Feeding me soul-Sam

I didn't have the most exciting holiday ever these holidays I went to my holiday house in the wairarapa for three days and saw a few movies while I was there, I also went to the pool with Ben and Jake who are in 7M, and on saturday I went to the soccer with Josh. At this moment in time I feel really lucky to be living in NZ. Sometimes if holidays are too long it can get boring for me and I feel lonely except this only happens in the last two weeks of the summer holidays.

Feeding the Soul - Noah

Greetings boys - you have 18 school weeks to go before the end of the year.  Having just returned from a decent three week break there is much to talk about...How did you 'feed your soul'?  How do you take yourself out of school routine, rest your body and mind, re-energise, and just enjoy the other stuff?  How keen were you to get back to school?  Is there a tipping point where too long a holiday dulls the senses a bit and makes you even more tired and lethargic?  Did you try something new over the break?  Stay in a favourite place? See an unmissable movie?  Devour a life changing book?  Formulate an ungoogleable question? What did you do to 'give back' (family, community...)?  How are the current rumblings in the world (Gaza, Ukraine, Iraq to name a few) affecting the value you place on currently living in NZ?  How will you 'push on' this term (especially WNB + I.S.) with the mighty school production sitting on your shoulders all the way through T3?

I moslt fed my soul food and water, maybe a bit of Coke, some beans and a couple of other things. For most of the holiday is was Sydney having a bawl of a time... Mostly people teasing me about my accent. I think one of the most time consuming part of my holiday was FIFA 14 and CoD Ghosts. After a while the holidays were getting quite boring... So I'm glad (kind of) that I'm back at school 😃 although another week would've been nice. Hopefully this term I can get stuck in to I.S. Although I do miss being able to sleep in until 10:00... I'll miss those days. 😭

Feeding the Soul-Harry W

Feeding your soul is extremely important if you want it to stay young and healthy. A good way to feed is to give it $10 to spend at KFC. The holidays was other great time for me to leave all of my worries behind and settle and relax. It is also a really great chance to get away from Wellington for a while and explore new surroundings. I suppose any normal kid would say that they dreaded going back to school but I was a little bit happy to go back and see everything and everyone. I think that the only time that the holidays are boring is when you have nothing to do because with school a least you a set idea of what you are doing for the day even if you don't enjoy it. I stayed in a new favorite place of mine which is Wanaka where I went skiing. I did read a lot of really good books over the holidays but I can't single out just one. I think that I have only now really realised how lucky we are not to live in a war ridden country. I don't think that the production will make too much of a difference to my WNB and Independent Study but I also think I will have a very different opinion by the end of the term.

Feeding the soul - Callum H

There is absolutely no such thing as to long a holiday. Maybe for other people they might get bored after a while of lying on the couch and doing nothing. The way I fed the soul over the past three weeks was going to France and just chillaxing while staying active by doing lots and lots of mountain biking and other adventure sports.

Tweet Tweet Half time here at Wellesley stadium.

We'll the holiday is finally here I have been really happy with the progress I have made on my independent study but I am also happy with the way I have been keeping on top of my homework and my inside class tasks. Overall I feel that I have had a very productive term but am looking forward to a nice relaxing holiday in Australia.

Half time

I can't believe we are already half way through the year. So far our class novels have been good I can't wait until the production next term which will hopefully be a success and should be fun. Also I am excited about science fair regionals and our last term of writers notebook.

Half Time - 2 down 2 to go

I feel like this year I have improved in my artwork this year because I'm coming up with new interesting and imaginative art designs. My three main targets for term three and four are:

  • To be proud of my finished product of my independent study
  • To be proud of my finished product of my WNB 2014
  • To do a ferry jump off the wharf
I feel like my independent study is going alright as tomorrow I'm going to be interviewing a protestor who managed to dress up as a referee and get on the pitch and kick the ball off the field before the start of the game! I think that the new hall looks great especially with the view of Wellington harbour! I'm very excited for the production next term because I really like to act. The single most important reason why I come to Wellesley is because of the people, the teachers, the pupils, the visitors are all really kind and friendly. To shut off these holidays I'll be SLEEPING A LOT!

Half Time Whistle Blown ~ Vilhein

This year is going so fast. Although I can't wait for college, I will really miss Wellesley. I have been here for the whole 8 years so I have grown a large connection with the staff I have been involved with. My Independent Study is going fine, I have completed 4 SOLO activities and have another one on the go. Term 2 was a great one for me.

Yours Sincerely,

~William~

Half time

It is really hard to believe that I have only half a year until I am off to College, which  I am really looking forward to.

I think that I'm doing pretty well in my Independent Study so far (well, better than than last year), and I'll probably do quite a bit in the school holidays. In my WNB, I've won a few times and got heaps of HCs, and I think I'm improving in my writing.

So, all in all, I think I'm doing pretty well, and I have definitely deserved a break.

Half-time Andrew

Term two has been great fun - I especially like the live feed of the fifa world cup. If I had to chose an area that I have progressed the most I would be spelling - the sentences have been great help. My independent study is going quite well, I've done a quite a few of my activities already. I think that the new hall is really cool and will be great for pe sessions. i have been really enjoying the new books that we have been reading even though they are a bit different to the usual.i can't really pinpoint  something  That i like wellesley for so I can't answer That question.

3/4 time-george

My time here is drawing to a close. This is my last year at this school. I think I should have more done on my independent study by now but anyway, stuff happens! I think that this classroom is a very good one and I really enjoy the independent study and this one is really interesting. I am nervous about the production as last time I found it a little bit unorganised. I am also not so keen about the "Our House" song. But the worst bit this term has to be when Mr Klöx was banned. :(
Can't wait til next term!

Half Time Hugh

I think I have had a good term 2, with some good writer's notebook (and some bad ones - Alternitive ending). I think my best achievement this term is getting in the firsts hockey and scoring a hat-trick. My main sporting goals for the rest of the yeah will be playing well in the first hockey and be the top scorer in the firsts cricket. I think I have 'wrestled the beast well this year as I have done a good amount of independent study and I hope to keep up with the independent sudy work.

Half time-Harry W

I think that I have really improved my writing for WNB from last year in my view. My main targets for the next couple of terms is definitely Independent study. I think that I know how to handle the beast now because of my vast amount of experience and I still am not amazing with my time management but I am a lot better than last year. I think sport has been a lot funner (yes I know that is not a real word but dgamb(dont.give.a.monkey.backside)) this year as we have had a load of really fun fixtures. I really like the new hall but there are some flaws like the concrete on the walls and no backs on the stands. I like the productions and I think that this years one will be really fun especially since I get to write the script. I also really enjoyed our novel Genesis and The seagull book. Even though this term has been really fun I am really looking forward to the holidays.

Interval-Max A

My goals for T3 and T4 are: Independent Study completion, roadie for production and if I get into TOM (Tournament Of the Minds) organise my time better. I think that the new hall is really amazing, and much better than the old one. The most important I come to Wellesley is because of education. I'm shutting off this holiday at the docking station this holidays. Oh wait, you guys don't know I'm a robot, (mum is going to kill me.)

(Facepalm)

Half time: have a break.-Gus M

Term two is already over and report cards are going to be sent. I must say that I am a little nervous. I haven't got a C grade in a long time (mabey not ever) and I don't want one now. My report card will probably say that I'm not the best at spelling and I need to improve my listening skills. If I can get A's and B's I'll probably be ok with my parents. After getting the good grades my parents expect me to get I'll probably sit down and go on my tablet, and watch T.V. That's it. I might work a bit more on my independent study. I've already made a page about the Yalta conference.

Half time - Jim

My main goal for term three and four is to really nail my independent study. I really like the way that we work in 7/8T because it is alwaays interesting and funner than just keeping on doing samey work. I'm not so sure 7/8T is a beast though more of a dog because I don't always want to play with my dog but its fun when I do. Kind of like most of my Monday mornings trying to get up to go to school. Sometimes my dog can be annoying. Kind of like work in 7/8T. Sometimes I can't wait to just see my dog. Kind of like a fun Friday in 7/8T. I'm really excited about the production coming up and I know it wil be lots of fun. Overall a great and productive term two and I'm very ready for the holidays.

Half Time-Ben S

Half time already. The most ridiculous thing science can't explain is time. It feels like a week since Mr. Tait explained what 7/8T was about, and how the class worked. At least every minute was well spent. To be honest, my time in 7/8T so far has been probably been one of the best times in my entire life. I have achieved pretty much what everybody else has achieved, and maybe a bit more than some in the research area for my independent study. Once again, I am astounded at how slowly our study is going. Science Fair has totally stopped 'the ball rolling'. Production next term will slow it down even more. The end of the year approaches, and a couple of people that obviously think playing games is more important than researching for their topic, and I don't think they will cope well if they haven't coped all year. As George would say, death, destruction and mayhem approaches. And the problem is every time he says that it manages to be true, ie: Animal Farm.

Half Way-Luke

I'm happy that I'm going to be here another year because I'm liking my independent study and want to do another one. I want to stay here as long as possible because it provides a lot of opportunity's that I won't have in college. I am enjoying this year and I'm happy that science fair is finally over! I'm loving the great big hall and think that it's going to be great fun when we finally get to do PE.

Halfway there - Toby M

Science fair has been a huge distraction for our independent study. Nevertheless I think I have been progressing well. The second half of the year year will be a lot easier with the new hall built. I feel that I have attached some stabilisers to to the flimsy ropes that hold back the beast and it is slowly becoming tamer. Some goals in the future terms will be to beat Hibbs, progress on my independent study and make 40 book logs.

Will S-Half Year

So far this year I have really enjoyed myself. I love the style of working and the kind of things we do I enjoy our style of homework and love the novels we read. But even thought I say that I am also really looking forward to a nice three weeks holiday.
My goals for next term is to get the bulk of my solo finished.
I feel this term I have done pretty well to keep up with the play and am really pleased with how my independent study is going.
Have awesome holidays see you next term
Villy $@u/\/|)€rs out

Half time - Toby C

I am happy with what point I am at in term two. I have been loving playing in the wellesley rugby team I have scored one try but made a really nice and big run. The house production is a great idea it seems like a lot of fun. I will be working over the holidays to get a big chunk of my independent study done. I am enjoying 7/8T it has been great fun being able to talk to the year eights. The hall is great it is HUGE! The chairs are great so year four to year eight can sit on them.

Half Time - Ben

The first two terms are always hard and this year isn't any different. This year espicially is action packed with Science Fair AND production. Overall I think I have improved from the start of the year, especially in WNB. Currently I have got two WNB's of the week which is two more then I had got all year last year. Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed term one and two. Below are some activities that I have paticularly enjoyed:

All the novel's I have read (paticularly 1984 by George Orwell), the completion of the hall and Science Fair.

I am looking forward to the next half of the year so I can do even better then the first half.

Ben Ross 😜

Half time in the tie - Noah

Wow. Only 18 more weeks of Wellesley left for me. This term has gone so quickly. This term was quite relaxing. Spelling for me has gone very well for me this term, 5 10/10s. For me the hall is great, but it is lacking something. Like the seats, there not comfortable, they've got no backrest, and look quite crummy. Next term I hope to get into IS.

Half Time - Henry C

Term two has been eventful and really fun. Winter sports and Water polo has added a much needed diversion from school work and school. Independent Study has had a bit of a drop because of Science Fair but in Term three Independent Study will be moved further to the front. Finally the hall has opened and it is really cool. The seats are AWESOME and I can't wait to move the Chapels and assemblies from the crowded music and dance room to the spacious hall. The hall opening today will be pretty cool and hopefully it doesn't drag on for to long!

Half Time- Nicholas

I am pretty pleased with how the term is going. It is great to have the new hall but it took quite a while. My science fair was a good achievement and even though I was not a finalist I still think I did a pretty good job. I want to get ahead on my independent study and 'knock off' a solo activity  one every week. I am looking forward to the holidays to get away from the rat race and relax (hopefully) and Mrs. Owen's holiday programme will be really fun as always.  I think the beast has been wrestled pretty well. I am really enjoying being a scriptwriter for Marlborough and I am looking forward to the production. I think it would be cooler if each house performed for 20 minutes instead of 15. The class novels were good. Genesis was okay but Jonathan Livingston Seagull was awesome. My outside school activities don't take up too many days and I will take up Karori basketball in term three. My report will say good stuff but it will also say: "Time and a place" After going to the Wellington College open day I am really looking forward to it. I want to make the most of Wellesley while I'm still here by wharf-jumping . I really enjoyed the dance and the fire drill was pretty funny but there should be a strict NO PARENTS in the hall rule.

Nicholas

Half Time- Theo

Term Two has been a great term and I can't believe how quickly this year is passing by. It's only 18 more weeks until I and all the year eight's leave.

I have really enjoyed this term, some of my highlights are:

  • Science Fair
  • Seeing the hall being built and completed
  • The first dance this year
  • The novels we have read
I' m also really looking to the hall opening and Grandparents Day. The Production and T.O.M. are things to look forwards to as well.

The holidays are also coming and I'm looking forward to getting some rest.

Half-time - Mr T

Boys - Congratulations on getting to half-time this year.  It is hard to believe that some of you only have 18 more weeks of school here before you move off to college.  Ask yourself some questions.  What have you achieved so far this year?  Where have you seen the most improvements?  What are your three main targets/goals for T3 and T4?  How have you coped with 'wrestling the beast' which is 7/8T?  What part has music, sport, extra-curricular activities played in your year?  If you could 'stocktake' your Independent Study at this point how would you summarise that?  What do you think of the new hall?  Thoughts on our upcoming production?  Our class novels?  What do you predict your report will say about you?  What is THE single most important reason why you enjoy coming to Wellesley?  How will you acknowledge your parents' commitment to sending you here? And...how will you 'shut off' during these holidays?
